Our Mission: Rooted in the Judeo-Christian Tradition of hospitality and service and dedicated to a mission of love and respect for each individual, The Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius and the Staff of Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community offer a welcoming and secure environment where the loves of senior adults and their families are enhanced with compassionate and professional care.

How Our Ministry Began...

On March 19, 1962 the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius, in keeping with their mission to "reach out in compassion to care for the elderly, the young, the poor, the sick, the lonely, wounded families and immigrant," first welcomed guests to Maria Joseph Manor in Danville, PA.

After its inception, Maria Joseph Manor became a caring and welcoming home for all residents with help from Sisters and staff. People began to refer to Maria Joseph Manor as the "Home With the Heart.." To face the challenge of the 1990's and to carry on their mission into the 21st Century, the Sisters recognized the need to expand and develop a continuum of care concept.

The formal dedication of The Meadows, the independent living part of the Maria Joseph campus, occurred in 1996. Maria Joseph Manor was then converted into a Personal Care building and Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation was established. Doors opened November of 2001. The Sisters recognized a need for specialized, supportive, personal care for individuals living with Dementia. In 2003 Nazareth Memory Center began welcoming residents and then the Sisters dream of a Continuum of Care for Seniors became a reality.

To this day Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community continues to be a leader that sets standards in care for the elderly in the Central Pennsylvania Region.

Giving Opportunities…

Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community is a non-profit organization. Charitable giving to our ministry and mission is a way for you to achieve financial benefits while also impacting others. Our growth over the years and our ministry of compassionate care continues because of the generosity of donors such as yourself. Because of our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization status, contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Your generous support is appreciated by the Sisters, Staff, and residents of Maria Joseph
Continuing Care Community

Ways to Give:
The most common form of charitable giving is a gift of cash or other assets such as stocks, bonds, or securities. If you make a contribution directly to Maria Joseph we can use the funds immediately for whatever needs are most urgent, or to plan for ongoing ways to enhance services. You would then obtain an income tax deduction that may help you reduce your income tax burden.

Special Gifts - Donations can be specified for a special item or project the administration
suggests.

Maria Joseph Manor also hosts a Golf Tournament every September and we invite to participate as a golfer, sponsor, or volunteer. Please contact Nichole Williams at (570) 271-1000 Ext. 1708 for more information.

Year End Giving...

Required Minimal Distribution - Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) from an IRA or Roth IRA permits taxpayers, age 70½ and older, to make donations directly to public charities without counting them as part of their adjusted gross income . Maria Joseph CCC would be pleased and honored to receive such a distribution. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, such contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Other Giving Opportunities...

Endowments - An Endowed Gift can create a new endowment or add to an existing
endowment. The principal of the endowment is invested and a portion of the principal’s
earnings are used each year to support a specific project, mission, or facilities work and
benevolent expenses.

Real Estate - A gift of real estate can make a significant contribution. Each piece of property and its individual circumstances need to be reviewed prior to donation to determine the suitability of the property as a gift. This will ensure the best possible outcome for all parties involved in a real estate donation.

Life Insurance - You can designate Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community as a beneficiary of a new or existing policy. Tax advantages will be available.

Memorial and Honorary Gifts - Donations of any amount in honor of or in memory of an individual aid the continuation of Maria Joseph's Mission, which is to provide compassionate, professional care in a warm, home like environment. Our residents are our family and they are never asked to leave due to an inability to pay. Your donations make this possible.

Continued Giving...

Bequests - If you prefer to defer a gift until after your lifetime, your donations will be fully exempt from federal estate tax and you will retain control of your assets during your life. Three common bequest are- outright bequests, bequests with life insurance, and bequests with retirement plan assets.

Will Bequest - You may select a dollar amount, an estate percentage, personal property, or a residual bequest in which the remainder of your estate is given to Maria Joseph CCC, after other distributions. We will honor your intentions through our mission and ministry.

Trusts - Consider the benefits of creating a charitable trust agreement that suits your unique circumstances and may provide you with income for life.

Securities - Transfer of long-term, appreciated securities provide the same benefits as cash, and offer tax benefits to the donor.
The Sisters of Saints Cyril & Methodius thank you for considering our mission as a recipient of your charitable giving. Please call to discuss your intentions.

“Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others."
